Panasonic
Working with an industry leader to optimize home security
Panasonic’s HomeHawk included the high-quality cameras and hardware it's famous for. But when users started struggling, they realized UX was the issue.
Devices & Industry 4.0
The Challenge

Panasonic’s Innovation Center teamed up with Zemingo to plan and execute an optimization process for its line of home security cameras. After receiving negative feedback from users who encountered various issues in operating their system, and low reviews on the app stores, it was clear that a comprehensive process, including extensive testing with potential users, was needed in order to completely revamp the user experience.

The Solution

We started by conducting all of the relevant internal reviews, such as product mapping and QA, and moved on to plan our usability testing accordingly, making sure to include every type of camera, scenario, feature, and use case. After gaining our insights from the testing phase, we created a detailed optimization plan, addressing everything from feature flows and navigation to hardware integration and UI design approach. The updated UX improved both the onboarding process (where a lot of the biggest frustrations existed), and ongoing use issues. And combined with the new UI aesthetic, the app quickly started getting better reviews and ratings.
